Story by Isaac SchorrSenator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) voted against a foreign aid package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan earlier this week after previously suggesting that the Biden administration needed to more to help the Ukrainian war effort. In a statement released on Monday night, Graham said that while he had “been saying for months that helping Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan are extremely important national security imperatives for the United States,” he would be voting against the package because “we must deal with our border first.”Graham went on to suggest that “the supplemental aid package should be a loan to the countries in question.” Notably, a compromise deal to fund both the trio of countries and help secure the border was negotiated by Senators James Lankford (R-OK), Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ), and Chris Murphy (R-CT) before it was rejected by Republicans in both chambers of Congress.
Remember when Lindsey Graham wanted anyone but Trump for President, even made jabs at Trump over a game of billiards, only to end up… supporting Trump? Here’s thirteen minutes of spineless Senator Lindsey Graham! #DailyShow #Comedy
Story by insider@insider.com (John L. Dorman)Sen. Lindsey Graham on Saturday tried earnestly to rev up the crowd at a South Carolina rally featuring former President Donald Trump. But the conservative crowd simply wasn't having it, given the chorus of boos and the shouts of "traitor" that came from many attendees even as Graham — who's backing Trump's 2024 campaign — sought to introduce the ex-president.Before Graham even reached the podium, the sounds of disapproval roared among the attendees in his home state, with the senator thanking the crowd for their attendance. "Welcome to Pickens. Thank y'all for coming. Thank you very much. Thank you," he said amid the boos. "Thank y'all," he added, with seemingly nervous laughter.
Story by Tom BoggioniReacting to a video of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) being harshly booed and taunted by Republican voters in his own state attending a Donald Trump appearance, longtime journalist Lynn Sweet stated a comment made later by the former president calls into question whether Graham will ever be effective again as a Trump defender. On Saturday Graham attempted to give a brief 6-minute speech at an early July 4th celebration in Pickens, South Carolina as attendees called him "traitor" when he wasn't being drowned out with boos."Putting aside the one-way loyalty we know drives only towards former president Trump, no candidate wants a surrogate to go out at their event and get that reception," CNN host Victor Blackwell prompted. "Is there any political value that Lindsey Graham can offer to Donald Trump now? "
Story by Tom BoggioniAccording to the author of "Strongmen: Mussolini To The Present," Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has revealed himself to be a classic example of someone who attaches himself to an authoritarian leader in an effort to be close to power.Appearing on MSNBC on Sunday morning, with host Ali Velshi, Ruth Ben-Ghiat of New York University dissected the South Carolina Republican's career turn that has led him to be one of Donald Trump's biggest defenders after tweeting back in 2016: "If we nominate Trump, we will get destroyed.......and we will deserve it."Speaking with the MSNBC host, Ben-Ghiat was asked about Graham's appearance on S ABC on Sunday morning where he snapped at the host when pressed on the 37-count federal indictment of the former president and ranted about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
BY LISA MASCARO | THE ASSOCIATED PRESSWASHINGTON — Upending the political debate, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham introduced a nationwide abortion ban Tuesday, sending shockwaves through both parties and igniting fresh debate on a fraught issue weeks before the midterm elections that will determine control of Congress. Graham's own Republican party leaders did not immediately embrace his abortion ban bill, which would prohibit the procedure after 15 weeks of pregnancy with rare exceptions, and has almost no chance of becoming law in the Democratic-held Congress. Democrats torched it as extreme, an alarming signal of where “MAGA” Republicans are headed if they win control of the House and Senate in November."America’s got to make some decisions," Graham said at a press conference at the Capitol. The South Carolina Republican said rather than shying away from the Supreme Court's ruling this summer overturning Roe vs. Wade's nearly 50-year right to abortion access, Republicans are preparing to fight to make a nationwide abortion ban federal law. “Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, we’re going nowhere,” the senator said flanked by women advocates from the anti-abortion movement. “We welcome the debate. We welcome the vote in the United States Senate as to what America should look like in 2022.”
By Tom Boggioni | Raw StoryIn interviews with the Guardian, former Department of Justice officials singled out Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) for their continuing attacks on the FBI and the DOJ as they attempt to protect Donald Trump who is under investigation. As the DOJ pursues possible Espionage Act and obstruction charges against the former president after he was caught holding sensitive government documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort -- necessitating a search by FBI agents armed with a warrant -- the two senior Republicans, as well as Trump, have ramped up attacking government agents for doing their jobs. That has some former DOJ officials fuming.According to the Guardian's Peter Stone, "The unrelenting attacks by Trump and loyalists such as McCarthy, senator Lindsey Graham, Steve Bannon and false conspiracy theorist Alex Jones against law enforcement have continued despite strong evidence that Trump kept hundreds of classified documents illegally," adding, "Former law enforcement officials and scholars warn that using such conspiratorial rhetoric impugning the motives and actions of the justice department and the FBI runs the risk of inciting threats of violence and actual attacks, fears that have already been proven warranted."
By Ann E. Marimow and Tom HamburgerSen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) must appear before a Georgia grand jury investigating possible attempts by Donald Trump and his allies to disrupt the state’s 2020 presidential election, a federal judge ruled Thursday. But the judge limited the range of questions that prosecutors can ask, partly acknowledging Graham’s claim that his status as a sitting senator provides protection against such inquiries.Graham’s lawyers had sought to throw out the subpoena from the Georgia grand jury, arguing that his calls to Georgia officials after the 2020 election were part of his official Senate duties and thus immune from the probe. “The Court is unpersuaded by the breadth of Senator Graham’s argument and does not find that the Speech or Debate Clause completely prevents all questioning related to the calls,” U.S. District Judge Leigh Martin May wrote, referring to a constitutional provision that protects lawmakers from being questioned about legislative activity.
Richard FaussetATLANTA — A federal appeals court temporarily blocked Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, on Sunday from testifying in the investigation into efforts by President Donald J. Trump and his allies to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia. The appeals court instructed a lower court to determine whether Mr. Graham should be exempt from answering certain kinds of questions, given his status as a federal lawmaker. The ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit gives a temporary reprieve to Mr. Graham, who has been fighting prosecutors’ efforts to bring him before a special grand jury. After a protracted bout of legal sparring, Mr. Graham, at the end of last week, appeared to have failed in his efforts to remain above the matter and had been expected to testify behind closed doors on Tuesday in a downtown Atlanta courthouse.Mr. Graham has argued, among other things, that he should be exempt from testifying under the U.S. Constitution’s speech and debate clause, which prohibits asking lawmakers about their legitimate legislative functions. The appeals court laid out further steps on Sunday that must be taken before Mr. Graham gives any testimony.
Summer ConcepcionSen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on Wednesday did not show up for his scheduled appearance at the Fulton County courthouse, following an agreement he reached with the county district attorney, according to a local CBS affiliate. TPM reached out to Graham’s office for comment. A special grand jury led by Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis is investigating former President Trump and his allies’ efforts to subvert the 2020 election results in Georgia. Willis recently subpoenaed Graham who initially challenged the subpoena in his home state. Last month, Graham reached an agreement with Willis to move his challenges to a district court in Georgia. Graham followed through with disputing the subpoena earlier this month, attempting to quash it.
Jon SkolnikAt least two legal experts this week blasted Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., for attempting to bat away a subpoena to participate in the probe into his call with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger after Donald Trump's loss in the 2020 election. On Wednesday, Graham officially vowed to fight a grand jury subpoena seeking more information about Trump's effort to overturn the election. The subpoena specifically mentioned at least two calls from Graham to Raffensperger in November 2020, during which the GOP senator asked the Republican state official about Georgia's ballot-counting procedures and expressed an interest in exploring "the possibility of a more favorable outcome" for Trump. Immediately after Graham indicated that he would fight the subpoena, numerous pundits cast doubt over Graham's self-professed innocence.
The Associated PressNEW YORK — Attorneys representing Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said Wednesday he intends to challenge a subpoena compelling him to testify before a special grand jury in Georgia investigating former President Donald Trump and his allies' actions after the 2020 election.Graham was one of a handful of Trump confidants and lawyers named Tuesday in petitions filed by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis as part of her investigation into what she alleges was "a multi-state, coordinated plan by the Trump Campaign to influence the results of the November 2020 election in Georgia and elsewhere."Graham attorneys Bart Daniel and Matt Austin said in a statement Wednesday that the Republican senator "plans to go to court, challenge the subpoena, and expects to prevail," and they slammed the probe as politically motivated.
by Joan McCarter, Daily Kos StaffSens. Bernie Sanders and Lindsey Graham held a debate about the economy Monday at the the Edward M. Kennedy Institute in Massachusetts, aired on Fox Nation. The event was supposed to be some kind of kumbaya bipartisan thing, bringing the two sides together for a discussion about the economy. Sanders, an independent from Vermont, gave a full-throated defense of the vision progressives have for America: a public health care system, a living wage, and tax fairness. Graham, a South Carolina Republican, reiterated his party’s dream of ending Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. “In the United States, Lindsey, we spend twice as much per capita on health care compared to the people of any other country, while major countries like Canada, the U.K., Germany manage to supply health care to all their people,” Sanders said. “Why is that?” he asked rhetorically. “Because they’re not having insurance companies ripping off the system.”
Yahoo NewsSen. Lindsey Graham was recorded criticizing President Trump on tape, days after the Jan 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. Audio of Graham’s remarks was broadcast on CNN’s ‘Anderson Cooper 360’ on Tuesday night during an interview with NYT authors Alex Burns and Jonathan Martin, the latter of whom captured the conversation. Graham’s remarks, in which he criticizes Trump for his rhetoric at the D.C. ‘Stop the Steal’ rally immediately prior to the Capitol riot, are similar in nature to leaked recordings of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy that were taken around the same time. In both cases, these prominent Republicans felt comfortable strongly criticizing Trump for his role in January 6’s events in private—only to maintain support for the former president publicly.
Hope CampbellIt's been more than a year since the historic January 6 insurrection at the United States Capitol, and it seems Americans and the world continue to learn more about what happened on that fateful day when reporters, staffers, and members of Congress feared for their lives. Between the House Select Committee on January 6 and the reporters who were there telling their stories in books and elsewhere, average citizens can get a fuller picture of that day and get inside the minds of those who were inside the Capitol. New York Times reporters Alex Burns and Jonathan Martin just released another tome about January 6, "This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden and the Battle for America." As they promote their work, the authors have slowly been releasing new audio from that day, including an interview with Republican Senator Lindsay Graham that shows he actually did think that day was a turning point and that the Trump years would pass, according to CNN.
Kaelan DeeseSouth Carolina GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham made it known on Monday that if Republicans held the Senate majority, Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson "would not have been before this committee." Graham, a former Senate Judiciary Committee chairman who already declared he would vote against Jackson last week, said on Monday that if he were still in charge, "you would have somebody more moderate than this," repeating his grievances that President Joe Biden's nominee is a favorite of the "hard left." "So, I want you to know right now, the process you started to go to a simple majority vote is going rear its head here pretty soon when we're in charge. Then we'll talk about judges differently," said Graham, who voted to advance Jackson last year when she was nominated to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.
Steve BenenRepublican Sen. Lindsey Graham caused a bit of a stir yesterday, insisting that Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson wouldn’t have even received a confirmation hearing if there were a GOP majority in the Senate right now. At first blush, it seemed as if the South Carolinian was effectively making an announcement: Senate Republicans support yet another blockade on a Democratic president’s Supreme Court nominees. But that’s not quite what Graham said. The Hill reported: “If we get back the Senate, and we’re in charge of this body, and there’s judicial openings, we will talk to our colleagues on the other side. But if we were in charge, she would not have been before this committee,” the senator declared. “You would have had somebody more moderate than this.” Graham added, “We are supposed to be trained seals over here clapping when you nominated a liberal. That’s not going to work.”
Meaghan EllisSen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) was recently slammed on Twitter when he attempted to attack President Joe Biden after taking his remarks out of context. The latest ordeal stems from Biden's speech at an emergency summit of North American Treaty Organization (NATO) leaders who are working toward resolutions for Russia's invasion of Ukraine. At one point during the speech, Biden noted that he was inspired to run for president after hearing former President Donald Trump's divisive "both sides" comment following the chaotic "Unite the Right" rally that was held in Charlottesville, Va., back in 2017. Apparently, Biden's words ruffled the Republican lawmaker's feathers.
Justin BaragonaSen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) dramatically stormed out of Tuesday’s confirmation hearing of Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson, capping off a half-hour “festivus” of grievance by melting down over his desire for the Guantanamo Bay detention camp to remain open indefinitely. Graham, who has already voted twice to confirm Jackson to the federal bench, devoted much of his Q&A session on Tuesday to both airing a host of conservative grievances and seemingly finding any reason to justify not voting to place Jackson on the Supreme Court. Apparently, Jackson’s previous work representing detainees at Guantánamo Bay as a public defender was just the opening Graham—an extreme war hawk—needed.
Roland S. MartinSen. Lindsey Graham stormed out of Tuesday’s confirmation hearing of Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson after melting down over his desire for the Guantanamo Bay detention camp to remain open indefinitely.
Justin BaragonaSen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) promised on Monday that the Senate confirmation for Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson “won’t be a circus.” And yet, by Wednesday afternoon, the conservative lawmaker had thrown overdramatic fits and dramatically stormed off for two straight days after contentious Q&A sessions with President Joe Biden’s pick for the high court. During his second go-round with Judge Jackson, the South Carolina senator once again used his time to air well-worn right-wing grievances, particularly over the way Democrats have supposedly mistreated conservative judicial nominees. At one point, he suggested that Jackson, a Black woman, should be happy about how “easy” her confirmation process has been. Referencing the 2003 filibuster of Bush nominee Janice Rogers Brown, who is Black, to the U.S. Court of Appeals, Graham huffed that “if you are a person of color, a woman, supported by liberals, it is pretty easy sailing.”
By Alexander BoltonSen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Tuesday grew increasingly combative in his line of questioning of Ketanji Brown Jackson, asking President Biden’s Supreme Court nominee about her religious faith, her defense of Guantánamo Bay prisoners and whether she was aware of what he said were left-wing attacks on his preferred nominee to the court. Graham has been seen as a swing GOP vote on Jackson given his support for previous Democratic judicial nominees, but he has signaled he is likely to vote “no” on this nomination. The Republican senator has also made it clear he disliked Democratic questioning during confirmation hearings for former President Trump's Supreme Court nominees and has repeatedly sought to underscore a double standard in how nominees from different presidents are treated.
LiveNOW from FOXSenator Lindsey Graham used his time during his opening statement to draw comparisons between the treatment of Ketanji Brown Jackson versus Brett Kavanaugh. Jackson currently sits on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, where Biden nominated her less than a year ago to take the seat of Attorney General Merrick Garland. She was the most high-profile choice among Biden's first round of judicial nominations.

The Kremlin pounced on Graham’s comments, labeling them "criminal," while some GOP members of Congress also criticized his remarks.By Rebecca ShabadWASHINGTON — Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., on Friday defended calling for Russians to assassinate President Vladimir Putin, saying it would be the quickest way to end the war in Ukraine. In an interview on Fox News' "Fox and Friends," Graham said he hopes someone in Russia will understand that Putin is "destroying Russia and you need to take this guy out by any means possible." The comment came after he floated the suggestion in a Fox News interview Thursday night and again on Twitter. "Is there a Brutus in Russia? Is there a more successful Colonel Stauffenberg in the Russian military?" Graham tweeted, referring to Julius Caesar's assassin and the German officer who tried to kill Hitler. "The only way this ends is for somebody in Russia to take this guy out. You would be doing your country — and the world — a great service."
CBS NewsSouth Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham repeated his calls to end the Ukraine war by assassinating President Vladimir Putin: “I just want him to go…I wish somebody had taken Hitler out in the '30s.”
A Twitter spokesperson said Graham calling for the Russian people to take out their president did not violate the platform’s rules against violent threats.Justin BaragonaA sitting United States senator thought it was a good idea on Thursday night to explicitly call for the assassination of Russian President Vladimir Putin. During an appearance on Fox News host Sean Hannity’s primetime program, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) declared that the only way to end the escalating crisis caused by Russia’s violent invasion of Ukraine is if Putin's political allies killed the Russian dictator. “What happens is that Putin looks at Biden, he sized him up, he thinks he can get away with it, and he’s going to keep going and going and going, and nobody in the West is going to stop him,” Graham exclaimed.
Cheryl TehOn Wednesday, Sen. Lindsey Graham again broke with former President Donald Trump, releasing a new statement doubling down on his position that the Capitol rioters should not receive pardons of any kind. "I reject politically motivated violence in all forms. Those who take the law into their own hands for political reasons — whether they are Antifa, Black Lives Matter protestors, the Proud Boys, or others — must be held accountable," Graham said, calling for the January 6 rioters to be "held accountable." "I was in the Capitol on January 6 and know it was one of the darkest days in American history," he added. more...
Analysis by Chris Cillizza, CNN Editor-at-large(CNN) In the moments after President Joe Biden concluded his speech commemorating the one-year anniversary of the January 6 riot at the US Capitol, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham leapt at the chance to offer his own response. "What brazen politicization of January 6 by President Biden," tweeted Graham. "I wonder if the Taliban who now rule Afghanistan with al-Qaeda elements present, contrary to President Biden's beliefs, are allowing this speech to be carried?" Words fail. In case you forgot -- as Graham appears to -- what happened on January 6 was this: more...
They're mad that a White House official mentioned "Lady G," so they're calling on the media to talk about Lady G even more. Rightwing media is currently enraged that a White House official made an opaque reference to persistent rumors that Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is in the closet and some conservative pundits are demanding that the media provide more coverage involving those rumors. The controversy centers around comments made by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki that reference a tweet from gay adult film actor Sean Harding about the 65-year-old childless bachelor. “Every sex worker I know has been hired by this man,” Harding tweeted last year, describing but not naming Graham. Replies to his tweet showed that many people understood he was talking about Graham, and several people said they allegedly knew sex workers who were hired by Graham. Other people claimed that Graham would insist on being called “Lady G,” a play on his initials.
S.C. senator pushes a Supreme Court justice hostile to LGBTQ rightsBy Kevin NaffSen. Lindsey Graham returned to the national spotlight this week, overseeing the confirmation hearings for Amy Coney Barrett. The irony of this appears largely lost on the mainstream media. Graham, for years and years rumored to be gay, is rushing the confirmation of a Supreme Court justice who will likely rule on challenges to the Obergefell marriage decision that will undoubtedly curtail its scope, if not overturn it entirely, as Justices Alito and Thomas revealed last week as their goal. The confirmed bachelor’s efforts to keep his sexual orientation a secret suffered a blow this summer, when male escorts and porn stars created a stir with the “Lady Graham” hashtag and revelations about “ladybugs” (Google it if you have an iron stomach). Porn star Sean Harding went public on Twitter, alleging Graham has hired multiple D.C.-based escorts over the years who signed non-disclosure agreements, which have enabled this farce to persist for so long.
Lindsey Graham "Lady G" Rumor refers to a claim that Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has hired male prostitutes in Washington D.C., who refer to him as "Lady G" (not to be confused with the Jamaican recording artist Lady G). The claim was made by an adult film actor in June of 2020 and also led to speculation that President Donald Trump knows about it and that is why Graham went from being one of Trump's most vocal Republican critics to one of his most vocal supporters. The story has yet to be verified. A short Medium blog post by satirist Philip Huang in which he wrote as though he were a prostitute hired by Graham also drew widespread attention, particularly a detail that says Graham has several moles around his perineum and anus which he refers to as his "ladybugs."

Sen. Graham’s false claim about Build Back Better adding $3 trillion in deficitsJon Greenberg, Louis JacobsonRepublicans have been highlighting a recent government estimate of what they say is the true cost of the Democrats’ Build Back Better bill, which includes major spending on child care and child tax credits. On Fox News Sunday, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., told departing host Chris Wallace that the bill is far more expensive than Democrats claim, and the money it raises falls trillions short of covering the cost. "The Congressional Budget Office says it's not paid for," Graham said Dec. 12. "It's $3 trillion of deficit spending." Graham is incorrect. The bill passed by the House and now in the Senate’s hands costs about $1.75 trillion, and, according to CBO figures, would add $158 billion to the deficit over 10 years, not $3 trillion. (President Joe Biden and other Democrats say even that smaller deficit would evaporate thanks to IRS crackdowns on tax evaders.) more...
By Jason LemonSenator Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican, described former President Donald Trump as "unpopular" while commenting on Republican Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin's win in Virginia. Youngkin, a businessman who had never run for elected office before, defeated former Democratic Governor Terry McAuliffe this week in Virginia, a state that President Joe Biden won by just over 10 points a year ago. While Trump endorsed Youngkin, the GOP governor-elect distanced himself from the former president throughout his campaign in the state. Graham, a close Trump ally, lauded Trump for understanding the dynamics of the race in Virginia in comments to Politico published Thursday. more...
