On Erin Burnett Out Front, the CNN host reported that Trump appears to have flip-flopped on accepting the reality of his defeat and now adamantly believes a number of conspiracy theories that falsely claim he won the 2020 election.“Sources tell CNN that the president has pulled a 180, no longer privately, quote/unquote, ‘getting the joke,’ not that it was ever funny,” host Erin Burnett explained. “He used to privately accept the reality that he lost the election, but now, no. He’s now starting to believe his own lies, that the election was stolen.” “He now believes that, so much so, that Trump has told some advisers that he may not leave the White House on Inauguration Day,” she added.In fact, there is no legal scenario in which Trump remains in office, or in residence in the White House, beyond January 20th, as Biden has won the Electoral College after all 50 states and the District of Columbia certified their votes. Entering or remaining in any restricted building violates 18 US Code § 1752, which recommends a punishment of a fine or imprisonment of up to one year. The comments, reportedly made ahead of a planned visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery that was ultimately canceled and blamed on bad weather, were part of a pattern of the Commander in Chief badmouthing slain service members. Trump later referred to World War I Marines who were killed at Belleau Wood, where American and allied troops successfully halted the German advance towards Paris in 1918, as “suckers” for dying at at the hands of the enemy. Trump reportedly expressed confusion about the United States’ involvement in World War I, asking aides, “Who were the good guys in this war?”Responding to the report in a statement, the White House said, “This report is patently false. President Trump holds the military in the highest regard. He’s demonstrated his commitment to them at every turn.” An investigative reporter for the Associated Press tweeted that a senior Defense Department official “confirmed this story by Jeffrey Goldberg in its entirety.” In a statement, Joe Biden, Trump’s Democratic opponent in the upcoming presidential election, said if the report was true, the president's comments are “yet another marker of how deeply President Trump and I disagree about the role of the President of the United States.” The president has a long history of attacking military service members, even those in his own party, including the late Republican leader Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), whom he called a “fucking loser” upon seeing flags lowered to half-mast in McCain's honor after his death in 2018. “He’s not a war hero,” Trump said of McCain in 2015 while running for the Republican presidential nomination. “I like people who weren’t captured.” The president reportedly told his staff, “We’re not going to support that loser’s funeral” after McCain’s death. Trump was not invited to the memorial service.
By Jason Hoffman, CNN(CNN) President Donald Trump on Saturday defended his firing of the inspector general who told Congress about the whistleblower complaint that led to his eventual impeachment, saying he thought Michael Atkinson "did a terrible job, absolutely terrible." Trump said that Atkinson, the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community, "took a fake report and gave it to Congress." Atkinson's firing is the latest case of the Trump administration removing officials who took part in the President's impeachment. Trump also removed Alexander Vindman, a then-National Security Council official who had testified in the House's proceedings, along with Vindman's twin brother, both of whom were reassigned out of the NSC, and fired then-US Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland. Trump claimed that Atkinson took the whistleblower complaint to Congress without ever requesting to see the President. "Why was he allowed to be, you call it fraudulent or incorrect, transcript, so we offered this IG -- I don't know him, I don't think I ever met him. I don't think I -- he never even came in to see me. How can you do that without seeing the person?" Trump said. "Never came in to see me, never requested to see me. He took this terrible, inaccurate whistleblower report, right, and he brought it to Congress." The President went on to repeat his claim that he had a "perfect conversation" with the Ukrainian President. Trump said that he did not run his decision to fire Atkinson by Congress, claiming he had the absolute right to do it. "That's my decision. I have the absolute right," Trump said. Trump concluded by saying someone should sue Atkinson. - Trump is a petty spoiled brat Atkinson did his job it is not his fault that what Trump did was illegal. Trump got caught and now is blaming the person who did his job and informed congress. If Obama had pulled half the crap Donald J. Karl talked to The Daily Beast about Trump’s bullying and how some reporters don’t help by grandstanding.By Lloyd GroveIt was all in a day’s work during one of Donald Trump’s typically self-flattering, duplicitous, and peevish coronavirus briefings when ABC News chief White House correspondent Jonathan Karl pressed him last Friday about the availability of ventilators for COVID-19 patients, and the president responded with schoolyard insults. “Look, look, don’t be a cutie-pie, OK?” Trump weirdly admonished Karl after he tried to pin the president down with the question, “So everybody who needs [one] will be able to get a ventilator?” Trump angrily continued: “Nobody has ever done what we have done. Nobody has done anything like we have been able to do and everything I took over was a mess… So I wouldn't tell me what you are telling—you know, like being a wise guy.” For the 52-year-old Karl, who has covered every White House since Bill Clinton’s second term, the cutie-pie/wise guy exchange—much like Trump’s spiteful back-and-forth this past Sunday with PBS’s Yamiche Alcindor and CNN’s Jeremy Diamond (again, over the shortage of ventilators)—was emblematic of the 45th president’s “Dr. Jekyll-and-Mr. Hyde” personality disorder when it comes to his dealings with the Fourth Estate. “It’s a vivid example of the way he has been from the beginning,” Karl told The Daily Beast as he celebrated the publication of his book, Front Row at the Trump Show, which includes a scene of Trump cutting short a December 2015 interview and screaming, “Fucking nasty guy!” because he didn’t appreciate Karl telling him that polls showed him losing to Hillary Clinton. “You saw it when he screamed profanities at me and stormed out of an interview in 2015 and then came back in like nothing had happened and asked me to take a picture with him,” Karl said. “And that picture’s in the book, where he’s all grinning and I’m not smiling, like I’m still furious.” Karl continued: “Even in the last couple of days, when he’s been doing what he did to Yamiche and doing what he did to me, he’s been saying that the media has been doing a good job. He even said something nice about Yamiche [“You’re a journalist,” Trump said. “A fine journalist.”] in the middle of personally insulting her in the same barrage of words.” The president’s ire, Karl acknowledged, is often aimed at female African-American journalists like Alcindor, whose questions tend to get under Trump’s skin. The president singled out Alcindor once again during Monday’s coronavirus briefing, chiding her for a “really snarky question” about the dearth of U.S. testing for the disease, and for not congratulating him on the terrific job his administration has been doing. “There was that two-day period where he went after Yamiche, he went after [CNN’s] Abby Phillip and he went after [American Urban Radio’s] April Ryan—all in deeply personal ways,” Karl recalled. Eric Linder is bound by a confidentiality agreement not to discuss the settlement of his 2016 lawsuit — but he was plenty unhappy with the president’s tweet earlier in the day deriding bedbug claims about his Trump National Doral resort outside Miami. “I’m outraged by it,” Linder, 66, who lives in Fort Lee, told the Daily News. Swimming pools at Trump resort properties in Florida are cited for poor water quality and other health and safety violations far more frequently by the state’s Department of Health than pools at comparable luxury properties, records reviewed by Quartz show. The violations were so serious that Trump’s Florida properties were forced to close their pools by health inspectors 10 times over the past 12 months. State records show multiple citations for violations like improper pH levels, problems with “disinfection feeders” that pump chlorine into the water, and inadequate safety features, including deficient handrails and ladders. Improper pH and chlorine levels result in automatic closures, according to Florida regulations. They can lead to conditions that permit the spread of gastrointestinal, skin, ear, respiratory, eye, and neurologic illnesses, according to the US Centers for Disease Control. In comparison to Trump Florida properties, nearby four and five-star resorts and private clubs had mostly pristine pool inspection records over the same time period. more...

Mice in the kitchen, filthy food prep areas and broken sewage systems are on the list of recent stomach-turning health code violations at a number of Trump-branded restaurants in the city, the Daily News has learned. Health inspections at Trump properties from Midtown Manhattan to the Bronx’s Ferry Point reveal the President’s eponymous company still struggles to keep its day-to-day operations clean — though similar infractions have been reported for years. Violations at the President’s crown jewel and Manhattan residence — Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue — are perhaps the most gag-inducing. City Department of Health inspectors visited the tower’s cafe and grill on July 11, 2018 and found “evidence of mice or live mice” in and around the kitchen, according to records that haven’t previously been reported. The inspectors categorized the violation as “critical.” The inspectors also deemed the restaurant “not vermin proof” and said its “conditions” are “conducive to attracting vermin” and “allowing vermin to exist.” Moreover, the eatery’s “food contact surfaces” had not been properly maintained and “unacceptable” material had been used to build some “non-food contact” stations, making them practically impossible to clean. The Trump Tower eatery has been written up for various health code violations every year since 2014, including sightings of “live roaches” in 2016 and “filth flies” in 2017. A self-described germaphobe and admitted clean freak, Donald Trump’s personal standards don’t seem to translate to his namesake eateries, with many properties showing a consistent track record of critical health code violations, Daily News reports. Dirty food preparation areas, broken sewage systems, and mice in the kitchen all make the list of violations identified by New York City health inspections, including those for Trump’s keystone property, Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue. In fact, Trump Tower in particular has received regular violations each year since 2014 with infractions including live roaches, filth flies, and mouse tracks. Trump, due to his decision not to divest himself from business interests after taking on the presidency, remains the chief executive officer of the property, though he presumably no longer plays a role in day-t0-day operations of the business. Even so, the pattern fits with what former associates have described as a tendency for Trump to emphasize a superficial veneer of luxury over substantive quality in many of his endeavors. “He has always been far more focused on creating an image for his properties than in spending what it takes to make them excellent,” one of these associates said, speaking on condition of anonymity. more...

After her death, she left the property to the National Park Service hoping presidents would use it as a “winter White House.” The structure spans 110,000 square feet and features 128 rooms. Within it is the members-only Mar-a-Lago Club, which features a spa, luxurious guest rooms, and other lavish amenities. Merriweather didn’t leave enough money to maintain the property, so a 1981 Congressional act returned it to her foundation. Donald Trump bought the property in 1985 and charged his then-wife Ivana Trump with running it. Today, his family still keeps private quarters at Mar-a-Lago, and he has visited the property frequently since he became president. The president's restaurants, resorts, and golf clubs have had some, shall we say, problematic sanitary records.By Lachlan MarkayOver the past few days, President Donald Trump has been on an extended Twitter tirade, going off on what he deems to be the rat infestation plaguing the city of Baltimore. But if anyone should know about the plague of vermin, it’s Trump. The president’s restaurants, resorts, and golf clubs have all been cited for extensive health-code violations, including the presence of rodents. Health inspectors have for years turned in stomach-churning reports of rats, mice, cockroaches, and other pests in the kitchens and food-preparation areas at Trump properties in New York, Florida, and Las Vegas. One infestation in the main kitchen of Trump’s Doral golf club in 2015 was so bad that health inspectors recommended that the place be temporarily shut down. As late as last year, health inspectors in New York reported a likely rodent problem at the restaurant in the president’s flagship Trump Tower property. Compared to the Red Hen, some of Trump’s own restaurants seem like the bathroom of a dive bar the morning after a live show. The Lexington, Virginia restaurant, which caused a Trumpworld uproar when it refused to serve White House press secretary Sarah Sanders on Friday, passed its most recent health inspection with flying colors. State authorities found no violations when they visited the restaurant in February and gave the Red Hen their best possible health-risk rating. By contrast, the conditions of restaurants at Trump’s hotels and resorts have ranged from moderately unsanitary to outright revolting. In April, Washington, D.C. inspectors visited the Trump International Hotel and found 10 health-code violations, including raw meat stored above ready-to-eat foods and containers of flour stored next to a hand sink that lacked a splash guard. Inspectors also found that the hotel was operating a number of on-site kitchens without city permits to do so. The hotel was given a “moderate risk” rating based on that visit. Inspectors conducted a follow-up visit in May and found that the Trump hotel had failed to comply with instructions to correct some of those violations, including the permitting issue. Meanwhile, the Red Hen restaurant passed all of its most recent health inspections with minor or no violations. Perhaps the most notable of the Trump properties to come under fire by health inspectors was the president's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, which has faced 51 health code violations since 2013 — including 15 during an early 2017 inspection. Eateries at the president’s properties have racked up a hefty list of health code violations.By Mary PapenfussDonald Trump bashed the Virginia restaurant that booted White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders by calling it “dirty.” That probably wasn’t the most credible tactic, given the startling number of health code violations amassed by his own restaurants. The Red Hen bounced Sanders out last Friday after the owner told the press secretary that the business had to uphold standards of “honesty and compassion.” A retaliatory tweet from Trump on Monday commented on the restaurant’s “filthy” exterior, adding: “If a restaurant is dirty on the outside, it is dirty on the inside.” It’s debatable that the restaurant looks at all dirty on the outside. As for the inside, health officials found absolutely no problems at the eatery in two of four inspections of the Red Hen since 2014, including this year. Last year the sole violation included storing pickles in the wrong kind of jars. Its sole “critical” violations were found four years ago: improper storage of meat and failure to mark certain prepared food with an expiration date. All violations were corrected. The record for the president’s various restaurants is far worse. His establishments have racked up scores of violations, including for several critical issues such as fly and cockroach infestations, food stored at improper temperatures and dirty conditions. The Trump Cafe and Grill, and Trump Bar, both in Trump Tower in Manhattan, and restaurants at Mar-a-Lago in Florida and the Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point in the Bronx have all tallied several violations. In April, inspectors dinged Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., on nine food health issues. It was written up for unsanitary food-contact surfaces, improper food holding temperatures and improper storage to prevent cross-contamination, among other problems. In 2015, Trump Cafe and Grill was cited for nine health violations. Six were deemed critical and included dirty food-contact surfaces, dirty wiping cloths and cold food stored at an improper temperature. The following year it was cited for five violations — three critical, including roach infestation. It was cited for four critical violations last year and for three so far this year. Trump’s restaurant at Mar-a-Lago was cited for 13 health violations last year, including for undercooked fish and hot raw meat, just days before Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had dinner there. But he might want to re-think what he serves with that chocolate cake. The Mar-a-Lago Club was cited for its highest-ever number of health code violations in January, the Miami Herald reported. Records from a routine inspection January 26 note 13 violations at Mar-a-Lago’s dining establishments, including three deemed “high priority,” the most severe category. In coolers, foods like shrimp and burgers were found at temperatures up to 50 degrees Fahrenheit, much warmer than the required 41 degrees. A ham was stored at 57 degrees. And fish that was intended to be served raw had not undergone proper parasite destruction and needed to be cooked or thrown away immediately, inspectors said. The number of violations was bigly for the property ― and records show there were two more the following day, as well ― but it’s not an uncommon number for a restaurant undergoing routine inspection, according to Stephen Lawson, a spokesman for the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. A statement from Mar-a-Lago pointed out that all of the urgent violations were corrected the same day they were found.
